Sponsors
The AUC would like to thank the following sponsors for their support of the 2007 Conference.
Allegro Networks
Allegro Networks is one of Queensland's largest wireless broadband internet server provider (ISP), with a wholly owned high speed wireless network covering around 800 sq kms in Queensland's South East corner.
Allegro commenced operation in September 2005, after the acquisition of two smaller independent broadband suppliers.
The company has a young and dynamic management team with broad business experience, a proven track record, and impeccable telecommunication industry credentials.
Allegro recently invested more than a million dollars in the purchase of spectrum in the South East Queensland corner - the first step in the company's bold plan to build a 4G network servicing businesses in outer metropolitan Brisbane and up and down the growth corridors to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and west past Ipswich.
The Allegro proposition is all about performance enhancement - helping businesses in Australia's fastest growing region achieve greater efficiency and productivity, by providing them with a telecommunications service superior to any offering in Australia.
AARNet
APL is a not-for-profit company that operates the Australian Academic and Research Network (AARNet) which provides high-capacity Internet services to Australia’s universities, research institutions and certain related cultural and education organisations as permitted by the AARNet Access Policy. APL is a licensed Australian telecommunications carrier and a public company whose shareholders are 38 Australian universities and the CSIRO.
During 2005, APL established AARNet3, the third generation of one of the most extensive research and education networks in the world. AARNet3 is built on some 8,400 kilometers of dark fibre acquired under a long term agreement with Leighton Contractors and NextGen Networks. The principal characteristics of AARNet3 include a national backbone, multiple points of presence (POPs) in each capital, fully redundant and diverse interconnections between all POPs, links to national and international ISPs and peers, and an innovative and sophisticated regional network.
The rollout of AARNet’s regional network was completed in mid 2006. This network incorporates AARNet’s optical network which extends from Brisbane to Adelaide with inland and coastal routes from Brisbane to Sydney and from Sydney to Melbourne. In addition, the network extends regionally to Cairns and Darwin in the north, Perth in the west and Hobart in the south. Each of these network “branches” is also capable of delivering high capacity services to regional centres located on or near their paths. BetweenCairns in the north and Perth in the west, the AARNet optical and backbone networks pass through the great majority of major regional towns in the country.
