Students Win Appel Design Award

The Apple Design Awards, now in their 12th year, recognize technical excellence and outstanding achievement in Mac OS X software design and development.

On the 12 June at Apple's WorldWide Developer Conference in San Francisco, the 12th Apple Design Awards were announced. Two AUC Students won the "Best Student Product" for their 'Picturesque' software which was rated the best and most innovative student product out of hundreds submitted.

Zac Cohen and Nik Youdale win a MacBook Pro with 30" Cinema display as well as a ticket to next years Developers Conference and a booth at MacWorld San Francisco in January 2008.

Zac and Nik are the founders and developers of Acqualia Software which was was founded in September, 2004 and is based in Sydney, Australia. They have been developing software for the Mac platform for a number of years and their other products include "World of Where" and "Soulver".

They both received an Innovation Grant from the AUC in 2006 as well as a WWDC Scholarship. In 2007 they were awarded another WWDC Scholarship each based on their work. The AUC congratulates Zac & Nik on their outstanding achievement.

Picturesque is an application designed to make images look gorgeous for the web. With an animated "drag and drop" style interface, Picturesque can beautify your images with reflections, soft glows, shadows, delicate curves, strokes and fades and has full support for AppleScript and Automator.
