Presentation: Beyond Infrastructure: Enabling a Living Laboratory for Exploration

Tracy is responsible for the strategic evolution of the university's central computing infrastructure and directs the allocation and effective use of computing resources in support of campus programs.

Several recent initiatives within Computing Services have revolved around wireless networks and mobility, including: Wireless Andrew, an 802.11 wireless network that blankets the entire campus; Handheld Andrew, a project that extends the computing infrastructure and systems to palm and handheld devices via the campus wireless; and Virtual Clusters, providing an equipment checkout system to facilitate wireless-enabled laptop computer access for students.

Futhey holds a B.S. in mathematics with a computer science concentration and a M.S. in industrial administration, both from Carnegie Mellon.

Dr Andrew Lambert

Presentation: Totally Immersed in Macintosh Development

Dr Andrew Lambert is a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at the
University College of The University of New South Wales at the Australian
Defence Force Academy, in Canberra.He has been developing software and hardware for Macintosh computers for both teaching and research tasks since 1988.

His research interests include Wide Area Image Restoration, Holographic Video Display, Optical Superresolution, and Spatial Light Modulation.
He has began work on a Macintosh based version of the WEDGE immersive stereo display.

He has previously obtained AUDF funding for projects entitled "Three dimensional, interactive holographic video display", "Visual-isation and the third dimension of Astronomy", and "Where have all the Macintosh programmers gone?".

Steve Sullivan
Product Line Manager, Apple Computer Inc. USA


Presentation: Apple Digital Media Technologies for Teaching & Learning

Steve Sullivan is a Product Line Manager in Apple's Executive Briefing Center in Cupertino. Steve's responsibilities include communicating to Apple's highest-level customers the company's strategies regarding digital media technologies and interoperability solutions, as well as gathering feedback concerning Apple's products.
 
He has worked at Apple for over six years and before joining the company worked as a systems engineer for an Apple education sales agent in Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Bloomsburg University and lives with his wife, Cindy, in Sunnyvale, California.

Gavin Eadie

Gavin Eadie is a Scot with degrees in Physics and Astronomy who has worked at the University of Michigan for twenty two years in nearly every aspect of the central information technology service organization. He has been an advocate of Macintosh computers from the beginning, and has developed several Macintosh software products.


Douglas Whitehead
Griffith University

Presentation: “eCommerce - your future?”

Douglas Whitehead is a senior lecturer at the School of Computing and Information Technology, Griffith University. In 1998 he agreed to join the successful undergraduate multimedia program to try his hand at teaching and lecturing. He become its Course Convenor in 2000; he then helped conceive and launch the Master of eCommerce degree in July 2000 as Program Director. Doug's interests remain compelling interactive media and useful eCommerce; he is particularly interested in the advent of 3G mobile technologies in this regard.

He has worked in the private and public sectors first working with Steven Jobs at NeXT in 1988. He has developed interactive media on CD ROM including The Magic World of Beatrix Potter for F Warne & Co and produced a wide range of web sites for clients ranging from Shell International to the Venice Orient Express Company. He has participated in European R&D programs as well as served as a director at Nimbus Records. He has experience of publishing in the USA and in Europe through his work with Pergamon, Philips, Berlitz and Macmillan Inc.
