Hi Andrew,
Again re our recent phone chat (and after discussion with Ross and
Luke here at SCU) we would like to take this years allocated
scholarship as a MacWorld Scholarship. Given that we also picked up a
MacWorld Scholarship in the draw we now have two to award this year.
We will set up some local selection criteria and a sub-committee and
start advertising for submissions with the idea of allocating one to
an academic user/teacher type and one to technical/admin user type.
Because we don't have a computer science school programmers are thin
on the ground.
As part of their application we will ask people how they intend to
disseminate their knowledge to the wider SCU and AUC community upon
their return. Ross and I are organising monthly Mac user group
meeting this year so that is one channel for reporting back.
I'd expect we will run this process in june/july so that we have a
short list of successful applicants who can then do early planning
subject to final confirmation of funding and dates.
Finally, I understand we could choose to spilt one of the $4.5K
scholarships into two $3.5K scholarships (ie a 50% top up from AUC)
if the applicants can get local school/departments to-up funds to
cover all costs.
Regards,
Allan
