Thanks for bringing this up. I too work in the dark at the moment.
I would be concerned about warranty etc and was looking for a matte film to put over the screen to no avail.
You are correct in that behind the glass panel is a regular "mattish" screen but you cannot readily remove the glass panel or are allowed to under warranty terms.
