[UniMacTech] Prompted for Startup Volume on boot?

Hi folks

Have noticed since around 10.5.3 on some of our Intel macs (Macbooks and 
iMacs now running 10.5.4) that we are occasionally prompted to pick the 
startup volume on boot. It doesn't always happen, just occasionally. 
Have done the usual steps of repairing disk permissions, wiping caches, 
reconfirming the startup volume and so on but I just can't seem to nail 
the problem.

I remember seeing a thread on the Apple forums about it but I can't seem 
to find anymore. Is this a known bug or have I missed something obvious?
