[UniMacTech] Leopard Parental Controls Break Firefox?

Hi folks,

As per discussions at:

http://iuseapple.com/blog/apple-how-to/os-x-tips/2008/01/20/parental-controls-in-a-lab-setting-w-os-x-1051-leopard/
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6582788

It seems Leopard's inbuilt Parental Controls are causing problems with
managed users who use Firefox. In my scenario, even with the web
parental controls set to "Allow unrestricted access" it is preventing
students from posting messages on our local WebCT / Blackboard system
using Firefox (v1.5.x and v2.x, v3 betas won't render pages properly).
This problem does not occur in Safari.

This behaviour does not occur when they are standard users, but then
they are able to modify the dock, change the account password, etc.
which I can't allow. The workaround listed in the iuseapple blog for
managed users doesn't seem to work either.

Are there any workarounds that will solve this problem? 10.5.2 doesn't
seem to have changed anything in this regard.

Cheers
Mark
