Thanks, Tony & Sherry
Server and Client are on the same subnet. I will chat to the networking
chaps and see what can be done.
I'm a firm beliver that it is 10.5.2 that's at fault but at least as a
back up plan I can boot from a 10.4 G4 server and multicast from the
10.5.2 box... provided mcast hasn't been broke as well.
Viva 10.5.3!!! for so so so many reasons.

Kai

Re: [UniMacTech] 10.5.2 Leopard Server Netboot issue
I've had exactly the same problem [on two different servers], and I
think it's a Leopard Server issue.
My only solution to date is to initially image the machines using Disk
Utility with the master image on a local hard drive. Once they are
bootable and on the net, and I need to reimage them, I have a
mechanism to remotely send them commands over ssh to set the boot time
nvram variables so that the netboot server and boot volume are
specifically stored in the boot variables, and then (again, over SSH)
I tell them to reboot. These netboots always work. So it seems to be
a problem with the "discovery" side of netbooting.
Maybe 10.5.3 will fix this... (hope springs eternal).
Cheers,
Tony
