                              X World 2008
            Technical Training for Mac OS X Administrators
                    9 - 11 July 2008, UTS, Sydney


- About X World 2008

X World 2008 is a partnership between the Apple University Consortium and
Apple Computer Australia. In 2008 it will take the form of a 3-day
conference featuring keynote sessions, hands-on workshops, lecture
presentations and a number of social events to facilitate networking. X
World 08 will cater for up to 250 attendees and be the largest single
training event the AUC undertakes in 2008.

- Call for Presenters

The AUC is seeking nominations from interested University staff and students
willing to present during X World 08. We are seeking presenters in a wide
variety of technical fields associated with the installation, configuration
and on-going administration of Macintosh computers using Mac OS X (Client &
Server).

Presenters should have a well-grounded general knowledge of Mac OS X as well
as a high level of expertise and knowledge in their chosen field. They must
be able to successfully impart information and knowledge to attendees whose
own technical ability may range from basic to advanced. They must be able to
present information clearly and in a well-defined and constructive manner as
well as be able to address an audience of their peers.

- Presenter Support

The AUC will support presenters as follows:
· Return economy airfares to Sydney from their nearest major airport
· Transfers from Sydney airport to hotel and return
· Accommodation in Sydney at a nominated hotel for up to 4 nights
· Free Registration to X World 2008 (includes conference attendance, all
included meals and collateral)

Presenters will also receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the AUC as
well as kudos from their University colleagues.

- Nominations

Nominations are to be submitted electronically via email.

Please include the following with your submission:
· Your contact details: name, address, phone and email address.
· A description of yourself, your role at your University and your
achievements (please include any areas of technical expertise you have).
· A one page (max 500 words) description of how you would address your
chosen topic and what you would cover in your workshop or presentation.

Some of the topics the AUC is looking to have presenters on include:

    Sustainable System Administration
    Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (New Features in Client & Server)
    Leopard Collaboration Tools (Podcast Producer, Wiki, Blog, etc)
    iPod touch/iPhone in Higher-Education

Other topics include:
Apple Remote Desktop        Mac OS X Security       Apache/MySQL/PHP
Virtual Machines            Disk Imaging            Building SOE's
Wireless Networks           Network Management      UNIX Tools
Novell/AD/LDAP Integration  Help Desk Management    PHP/Perl/AppleScript
SAMBA/Windows File sharing  BackUp Strategies & Solutions

plus any others you can suggest?

We are also looking for some people who can present on case studies they
have done either using or deploying Mac based systems or solutions. If you
have any topic you are eager to share with other we want to hear from
you....


- WWDC Scholarships

A small number of Scholarships to attend WWDC in June are available for X
World 08 presenters. These Scholarships will be made available to presenters
who have shown a commitment to sharing knowledge at X World, would benefit
from WWDC attendance and are willing to present at any future AUC events.

- Closing Date

Nominations should be sent electronically to Andrew Jeffrey
<ajeffrey at asia.apple.com> by Friday 18 April 2008. You will receive a
confirmation by return email of your nomination having been received.

The AUC will contact you if it requires any further information regarding
your nomination and will announce the presenters at X World 08 at a later
date. Registration for X World will open in May 2008.
