X World 2009
Technical Training for Mac OS X Administrators
8 - 10 July 2009, UTS, Sydney
- About X World 2009
X World 2009 is a major training event run by the Apple University
Consortium aimed at System Administrators of Mac OS X systems. In 2009
it will take the form of a 3-day conference featuring keynote
presentations, hands-on workshops, lecture presentations and a number
of social events to facilitate networking. XW09 will cater for up to
200 attendees and be the largest single
training event the AUC undertakes in 2009.
- Call for Presenters
The AUC is seeking nominations from interested University staff and
students willing to present during XW09. We are seeking presenters in
a wide variety of technical fields associated with the installation,
configuration and on-going administration of OS X based devices
(desktop, portable and mobile).
- Presenter Support
The AUC will support presenters as follows:
· Return economy airfares to Sydney from their nearest major airport
· Transfers from Sydney airport to hotel and return
· Accommodation in Sydney at a nominated hotel for up to 4 nights
· Free Registration to X World 2009
· Special Presenters Dinner
- Nominations
Nominations can be submitted via email. Please include the following
with your submission:
· Your contact details: name, address, phone and email address.
· A description of your experience and your role at your University
· A short one or two paragraphs outlining your presentation/workshop

Some of the topics the AUC is looking to have presenters on include:

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard & Collaboration Tools
iPod touch/iPhone usage, integration and development
Other topics may include:
Apple Remote Desktop Mac OS X Security Apache/MySQL/PHP
Virtual Machines Disk Imaging Building SOE's
Wireless Networks Network Management UNIX Tools
Novell/AD/LDAP Integration Help Desk Management PHP/Perl/AppleScript
BackUp Strategies & Solutions
plus any others you can suggest?
We are also looking for some people who can present on case studies
they have done either using or deploying Mac based systems or
solutions. If you have any topic you are eager to share with other we
want to hear from you....
- WWDC Scholarships
A small number of Scholarships to attend WWDC in June are available
for XW09 presenters. These Scholarships will be made available to
presenters who have shown a commitment to sharing knowledge at X
World, would benefit from WWDC attendance and are willing to present
at any future AUC events.
- Closing Date
Nominations should be sent electronically to Andrew Jeffrey <ajeffrey at auc.edu.au
> by Friday 24 April 2009. You will receive a confirmation by return
email of your nomination having been received and we will follow up
with you shortly after.
Registration for X World will open in May 2009.
