Hi Merv,

If you're worried about 'permanent loans' of your equipment, you might  
find something like Adeona handy - it's an open source, free method to  
track computers, and can optionally take photos through the iSight  
camera if desired. See http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/ for more info.  
It has workarounds for people clever/devious enough to get around it,  
but may assist the general user who doesn't think carefully about  
their use of the computer post-removal.
