[UniMacTech] Important changes to your Apple warranty

The two new plans, as I understand them, are both on-site, so you could
describe this change as Apple forcing everyone to uplift the Return to
Base tricare to onsite. (This is, incidentally, what Dell do, except they
bundle the warranty cost into the purchase price and don't give our
clients an implicit option to opt out of warranty)

On the document I've seen, the prices on your list appear to be a bit more
expensive than the institution's price for the best effort on-site, and a
touch cheaper than the NBD onsite price.

Thanks Darren - thats good to know.

Is the pricing similar to current pricing on APP available on the online
EDU store? (or is it more/less?)

Based on the current pricing I calculated the price increases we are
looking at:-

For that extra we get phone support... (current APP doesn't appear to be
on-site).

If on-site is now included at similar cost to current APP then the
equation changes (ie on-site is an added value to some, MUCH more so than
phone support).

Leaving aside that awful email for a moment, we've received some
information from Apple on the changes to APP for ed institutions.

There's two options for the 3-year APP
APP with onsite through Accredited Apple Service Providers (3 year global
hardware warranty, 3 year phone support, onsite repair - best efforts)
APP with onsite NBD SLA (delivered by Unisys - includes 3 year global
hardware coverage, 3 year phone support)

There's a document describing the pricing for the two options which I
imagine is available from your friendly neighbourhood Account Manager, but
I think it's about $50 more for the Unisys/NBD service. On the plus side,
it is now a global warranty (tricare was Au only), which might be useful
once every couple of years or so.
