Xgrid Workshop - Sydney

The Apple University Consortium is pleased to announce it is offering 50 Scholarships to the AUC’s Xgrid workshop to be held at the Clifton Training Centre in Sydney & Melbourne. Recipients will be eligible to attend the two-day workshops, commencing on late October.
The workshop is designed to give those who attend an advanced understanding of Xgrid which is Apple’s proprietary technology for solving large computational problems using a number of computers idle/ wasted CPU time. The workshop focuses on Xgrids architecture, protocols and rich tool set and API’s. In addition to this the workshop looks at how a number of Apple technologies such as Podcast producer leverage Xgrid to implement/ optimize workflows in production environments.
A maximum of 25 people can attend each workshop so seats will be allocated on competitive basis. The AUC strongly encourages students to attend.

CreateWorld 2009 - Registration Closes

The AUC will be holding CreateWorld 2009 a 3 day performance, presentation, and technical development event, specifically for Academic and Higher-Education Technical staff in the digital arts disciplines.
CreateWorld 2009 will be held 30 Nov to 2 Dec 2009 at Griffith University’s Brisbane South Bank Campus, across the facilities of the Queensland College of Art, the Queensland Conservatorium, the Griffith Film School, and the Graduate Centre.
The conference will feature a wide range of academic and technical presenters from the University and industry sectors as well as panel and interactive sessions.

Ever wanted to learn how games like Counter Strike and Quake worked behind the scenes? Ever wanted to learn how to take your own idea for a game and implement it? Ever wanted to learn how to write great games for platforms like the Mac, iPhone and even Windows? Well this workshop is for you.
This workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of game development using modern development tools. In this workshop students will develop an appreciation for the tools and techniques that make a great game. Some of the key game concepts that will be covered include Physics, 3D graphics, animation and audio.
